Loading Dogs in Boxes
We had quite the time with our day at the races. We had about 20 racing dogs and handlers learning the ins and outs of Terrier Racing. UKC hopes to have this event licensed for 2004. Our Club is READY!
The dogs sure do love to do what comes natural. It is so fun to hear the yip, yip yip of a dog ready to race.

In a licensed racing event the rats would be muzzled. All of these dogs know each other and off leash play together at club functions so we have not used muzzles today.

Our beany baby lure will need to be replaced too, regulations will call for a plain strip of fake unsented fur. This is a test for the eye, not for the nose.

Our Boxes are top loading 20x12 inch compartments. We have 3 pairs that latch together for  a total of 6 compartments. The compartments are connected by a piece of pipe so that all open at the same time.

Look at me Ma! I chased the Bunny!
Hummm..Where did the bunny go?
Can I go Again?
Notice all the dogs have eyes on Bunny and are waiting for the start
Steward is waiting for the command from Judge.
2 of these dogs are first time racers... They will soon learn that facing forward is fastest!
Take down is a group effort.
Here is our lure box.
We purchased our take up wheel from Injoy Wood Products. John built the rest. We use the Injoy suggested starter motor. It works great.
